Classroom Involvement
Homeroom Parents
An opportunity for moms and dads to be involved in their child’s classroom. Helping to plan special events, supporting the classroom teacher, and working with other parents are just some of the ways homeroom parents can be involved in their child’s classroom.
The Parent Connection
This program began during the 2005-2006 school year in an effort for parents to be more connected at the MS and HS level. One set of parents from each grade (6-12) volunteers to stay “connected” to the homeroom teacher of that class and to the needs of the students. The parents are encouraged to pray regularly for that class, to communicate regularly with the homeroom teacher, and if needed, organize an event of some type to help the students build better relationships with one another.
Special Events
These events are subject to change from year to year.
Parties with a Purpose
In this event each class has a party in their classroom complete with games and snacks. The purpose of these parties is to provide an opportunity for parents to meet one another, to enhance cross-cultural understanding, and to create community within the classroom. Homeroom parents will help to facilitate these parties, but a parent committee plans the event.
Family Fun Festival
This is an opportunity for families to come together for a day of food, games, and entertainment. PACE sponsors this event, which also functions as a fundraiser. A committee is needed to put the festival together, as well as the participation of as many parents as possible. Events for the 2005-2006 school year included a Sunday BBQ and Games Afternoon and a Dinner Auction.
Field Day
On the last day of the school year, PACE co-hosts the annual Field Day with the school staff. This is a great way to end the school year! All of the students are divided into multi-aged teams and throughout the day participate in a variety of relays and competitions. Parents help to organize and facilitate the games while teachers participate on the teams. A committee is needed to plan this event.
Classroom Moms
We try to have two moms for every class so they can help each other organize the activities throughout the year. If you’re interested in being a classroom mom for the 2007-2008 school year, please contact Jane Milam at 0812-208-2023.
