January 29, 2010 It's been another exciting week of Lady Eagles basketball! Our "JV" girls played the first game on Friday afternoon against SMP 3. It was an excruciatingly hot day but thankfully we had enough players to allow for frequent water breaks. We are so proud of the focus and determination our girls showed. Beth Hansen led in rebounds. Cacie Neveux led in scoring with 4 points, followed by Caris Chun and Lena Maxey each with 2. Our point guards, Caris and Amie Hegle, provided great leadership and encouragement for the team. Nancy Kim, Haewon Choi, Emma Durham, and Melody Williams also played with great intensity. Though we lost, 34-8, everyone had a good time gaining more experience and learning to play together. Caris Chun was chosen "Player of the Game" for her leadership, encouragement, and focus.
After a great varsity boys' game Friday afternoon, our Varsity girls played SMA 10, a team that had beaten us by 10 points before Christmas break. Our girls played with better teamwork and hustle than ever before, giving the SMA 10 team quite a battle. Sarah Neveux was high scorer with 7 points, Melody Williams -- 6, Joy Park -- 3, Fifi Then -- 2, and Bora Ha -- 2. At the final buzzer, the Lady Eagles celebrated a victory, 20 -- 14. Melody Williams was chosen "Player of the Game" for her great boxing out, determination, and for making free-throws under pressure at the end of the game, securing our win. We are so proud of all of our girls!
December 08, 2009 We are so proud of the Girls’ Basketball Team! On Tuesday, they played against a very good team, SMA 10. Though our girls lost 30-20, their man-to-man defense was incredible! They kept SMA 10’s star player from scoring a lot of points. On our team, Sarah Neveux scored 10 points, Bora Ha 6, Eun Young Park 2, and Melody Williams 2. Bora Ha was named Player of the Game for her great defensive and offensive efforts. Everyone did an awesome job and your coach is so proud! We appreciate the friends and parents who came out to cheer us on!
