Girls Place 3rd in IISSAC Tournament

The BAIS Lady Eagles put on a great show this weekend at the 2008 IISSAC Basketball Tournament. They opened the tournament on Friday afternoon against a solid Surabaya team. It was an intensely played game up to the last minute, but the Eagles pulled through with a 15-12 victory. This was possibly one of the best performances of the Lady Eagles this season. The second BAIS game was played later that evening against a tough Wesley team. The BAIS girls worked hard, but were unable to keep up with the fast-paced opponents. WIS won the game 27-14. On Saturday morning, the BAIS girls came out strong in the first quarter against Mountainview. The game was tight all the way to the buzzer, but MICS came out winning 16-13. In the last round robin game, the Lady Eagles played a strong and scrappy game against Bali, winning 17-10. At this point, BAIS girls were ranked 3rd, which put them in the position to play 2nd seed Wesley. Without question, the Eagles played with all their hearts to the very end, but they lost against WIS again with the same score as the previous match with them, 27-14. This put the Lady Eagles in 3rd place overall for the tournament.

Throughout the tournament, consistently outstanding performances came from Cassie Milam and Tessa Danihardja, Grade 12, Fifi Then, Grade 11, Joy Park, EunYoungPark, and Sarah Neveux, Grade 9, and Jenna Lafferty, Grade 8. Kelly Danihardja, Grade 8, also started off the tournament well, but unfortunately sprained her ankle early on and was unable to play for the rest of the weekend. Neveux was voted to the All-Star Team in the closing ceremonies of the tournament.

The team had made a goal before the tournament began to walk away with no regrets, having played with all their hearts and having played honorably. Without question, that goal was attained. The tournament was instrumental in showing the BAIS Eagles that they are a solid team and a force to be reckoned with in the years to come! We are sad to say goodbye to our seniors, Cassie Milam, Tessa Danihardja and Janalyn Hegle, but are excited about our solid, young talent, and look forward to the future of our team!
