From the Director’s Desk

One of the hallmarks of any institution is the built-in desire to continuously improve. The past month of activity involving the gifted and loving members of our NICS home office staff has certainly helped our school. In addition to the campus visitors, Mr. Thomas and I had the opportunity to attend the Fall Directors Conference in Singapore at our sister school, ICS – Singapore. A few of the sessions we were able to participate in were lively discussions on defining Academic Excellence, improving the use of the data obtained from MAP testing, and an introduction to some changes in the ACSI Accreditation standards.

Over the next 18 months, BAIS will be working on the examination and reporting stage of our Accreditation Renewal Process, generally called the Self-Study report. Following the submission of the report, we will be visited by a team of educational experts who will be verifying the statements in our document and offering areas of improvement. It is our desire to see BAIS remain the premiere school in Bandung and these are steps necessary to ensure that is the case.

Introducing Ms. Harsono!

Because of our sudden math teacher need right before the start of school, we have been looking for the right candidate for these past 5 weeks. We have found a wonderful teacher in Ms. Rita Harsono. Ms. Harsono is joining us from Sampoerna Academy where she has been teaching since June of 2015. While studying in Jakarta she earned a dual degree in 2011 from Universitas Pelita Harapan and Corban University in Salem, Oregon in Secondary Mathematics. More importantly, she has a vibrant personality, a passion for teaching, and a wonderful Christian testimony.

Ms. Harsono will be joining the BAIS staff on October 10th, beginning to teach on October 17th. The course load Ms. Harsono will pick up for this year is, 8th Grade Algebra 1, Algebra 2 Honors, PreCalculus, and the supervision of NSA AP Calculus. If you see Ms. Harsono on campus, please greet her warmly and welcome her to the BAIS family!
