From the Elementary Principal’s Desk

Dear Parents and students,

During this time of year, life begins to get very busy at BAIS. As a staff, we have named this season Awesome April and May Merriment. This is due to all the events, celebrations, and activities that are a culmination of a year of hard work and effort. Some of the activities that you can expect to see will focus on academic achievement. They include our upcoming MAP testing, AP tests, and Secondary final exams. Each of these tests will give the school and the students’ valuable feedback on what the students have learned this year in their studies. Some of the activities in these next two months will focus on celebrating student success. These events include Elementary and Secondary Awards Ceremonies, Kindergarten and High graduation, as well as the 8th-grade Banquet and Senior Banquet. A third focus of Awesome April and May Merriment are activities or events that showcase our students’ talent and hard work in various areas throughout the year. Shortly our school yearbook will be submitted for publication. The yearbook not only documents the major activities of our school year but it also showcases the numerous talents of our yearbook staff in the area of photography, graphic design, and journalism. Later this month, our sports teams will showcase their hard work and talent as they compete in the April 26th-28th our IISSAC Badminton, Cross-Country, and Swim tournaments. Even this weekend, we are able to see the amazing singing and acting talent among our elementary through secondary students as they performed Broadway’s Aladdin Jr. These are just a few of the events you can expect to happen over the next few weeks. Because of the busy season, we are entering, I encourage you to keep reading the weekly BAIS Buzz announcements, check out the school calendar on the website, or even sign-up for the BAIS Whatsapp so that you don’t miss any of the important events that are coming our way.

Blessings,
Charity (LaMertha) Sianturi, Ed.S

WWDWWD – Why Do We Do What We Do?

Why does BAIS complete MAP testing?

MAP stands for Measures of Academic Progress and BAIS administers these exams early in first semester and at the end of second semester. The three testing areas are Reading, Language Usage, and Mathematics. There are myriad reasons why BAIS partners with The Northwest Evaluation ssociation (NWEA) on these exams. The following list identifies a few of those reasons.

Elementary testing dates are April 22, 24, and 25 and Secondary testing dates are April 15, 16, and 30. Thank you for ensuring your students are well-rested and well-fed for MAP testing this season!
