BAIS classrooms normally consist of 20 students or less per teacher. Small class sizes encourage close student-teacher relationships, which are further enhanced by the teachers’ commitment to be involved with students in after school clubs.
The school year begins at the middle of August and finishes near the middle of June. Students may enroll at any time during the year. There are two semesters (four quarters) per school year. School hours are from 7:45am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday. Generally, after-school clubs begin daily at 3:15pm.
From little pre-schoolers to grade twelve seniors, we adapt programs to meet the needs of the international student as much as possible. Our general American style academic program also includes a multi-cultural emphasis which transcends any one culture or nationality.
The elementary curricular program is designed to help students develop a strong foundation in Language Arts as well as an understanding in Science, Social Studies, Math, and Biblical Studies.
Students learn to express themselves critically, to be attentive listeners, to understand worldviews, and to apply life skills to learning all of which is within an environment marked by high expectations. Elementary students also have specialist classes in music, art, computer, library and physical education. Indonesian language and culture is also taught at different levels to meet the needs of each child.
In addition to daily studies, the elementary school also provides a variety of special activities for students throughout the year. They have opportunities to perform in concerts and presentations, to participate in Art and science fairs as well as Storybook Days, Math Olympics, and Student-led Conferences. Parents are encouraged to view and participate in these creative displays and experiments, as well as visit classrooms at pre-arranged times.
