From the Elementary Principal’s Desk
Dear Elementary Parents and Students,
Wow – we are already to second quarter and many exciting things are happening in the elementary over these next few months. In the next week or two, I want to encourage you to be carefully looking through the Friday Folders as there will important information about our new second quarter programs. Here is some information that you should find….
- Elementary Swim is starting back up. Elementary PE for 2nd quarter will all be in our new swimming pool. Ms. Fulwood will send home a swim letter this Friday explaining all the details.
- This week is the end of the quarter. Please be on the look out for your students’ report card and other end of the quarter information in next Friday’s Friday Folder, Oct. 21st.
- Next week starts our I Love to Read focus in the elementary which will culminate in our Elementary Storybook Day. Information should go home in this week’s folder regarding details for this event.
- This month many of the elementary classes will start an Elementary Garden Project. The elementary garden is located on the steps going down to the soccer field. If you have any experience with gardening I know that many of the classroom teachers would love help or advice. Please feel free to contact your classroom teacher if you have any information in this area.
- Nov. 3rd-4th is Parent Teacher Conferences. We ask for all elementary parents to attend. You should expect a letter in the next 2 weeks regarding the specific date and time of your conference.
- Later in the quarter, we will also have Spiritual Emphasis Week and the Christmas Concert. Stay tuned for that information as well.
As I look at all these events, I am excited for these many opportunities as they help us reach our Expected Student Outcomes at BAIS to be Biblical Active Intelligent Serving students.
One final event that will be happening in the elementary this quarter is that I will be stepping away from school for a 3 month maternity leave. My husband and I are expecting the arrival of our new little girl sometime in the next two weeks. I will be out of the office starting October 19th until January 10th. We have divided up my duties between Mr. Nielsen, Mr. Thomas, and various other teachers on staff. If you have a question or a concern regarding the elementary, please check with Ibu Sri and Ibu Leony in the front office, and they will be able to direct you to the person that can help you in my absence. I would welcome all your prayers as I start this adventure as a first time mother and look forward to hearing when I return about the wonderful events that happened while I was gone.
Blessings,
Charity Sianturi

SWIM PROGRAM UPDATE
Hello Parents,
This Second Quarter, your elementary student(s) will have the exciting opportunity to participate in the elementary swim program as part of the Physical Education Curriculum. We at BAIS feel that this is a very important skill to learn for the safety of your child. Drowning ranks in the top three causes of child related deaths in several countries around the world.
Starting Tuesday October 25th, the entire elementary school will be taking swimming as part of their PE requirements. The 6-week program will be taught by BAIS staff. We are also looking for parent volunteers to help teach or help supervise the students during the swim classes. See the schedule below for the swim times. If you are able to help, please select which days and times you will like to commit to volunteering during the second quarter. Then return the form to the classroom teachers or Ibu Retno for Ms. Fulwood to collect. Letters about the 6-week program will be sent home this Friday in your students’ Friday Folders.
