From BAIS Director

Dear Parents,

Semester two is off to a fantastic start! Thank you for following all health and safety protocols in place and for all the support you give to our students and teachers. Incredible learning is happening, and we are thankful that God continues to bless our school. Even amid the blessing of many new students and full-time face to face learning, we are still forced to deal with uncertainty related to the pandemic. Since much talk about the omicron variant continues to appear in the news, we wanted to communicate once more what will happen in the event of a confirmed Covid-19 case on the BAIS campus or within our staff/student body. Following the guidance of the Department of Education, Kabupaten Bandung Barat Covid-19 task force, and our local puskesmas, the following protocol will be followed:

If a case is confirmed over the weekend or while school is not in session:

  1. Positive case detected via off-campus testing
  2. Communicate with parents and staff via email and WA
  3. Close school, begin online learning the following day
    1. Teachers will teach from home
    2. Students will learn at home
      1. Chromebook pickup will be facilitated as necessary
  4. Contact tracing data gathered by school Covid-19 task force in coordination with puskesmas – parents contacted with tracing data if applicable
  5. All other staff and students: If symptomatic, testing is needed
    1. If asymptomatic, monitor for symptoms
    2. If a staff member or student is listed as having “close contact” he/she must test within 3-5 days after contact, even if asymptomatic. A negative result is required before returning to school.
  6. Campus deep-cleaned
  7. Follow guidance of puskesmas for reopening (possible 5-14 days of closure, depending on requirements)

If a case is confirmed while school is in session:

  1. Positive case detected via testing
  2. Isolate student/staff member in clinic isolation room and contact student’s parents to arrange pick-up/send staff member home
  3. Communicate with parents and organize an orderly and immediate pick-up for all students (email, WA, phone call)
  4. Close school, begin online learning the following day
    1. Teachers will teach from home
    2. Students will learn at home
    3. Chromebook pickup will be facilitated as necessary
  5. Contact tracing data gathered by school Covid-19 task force in coordination with puskesmas – parents contacted with tracing data if applicable
  6. All other students and staff: If symptomatic, testing is needed
    1. If asymptomatic, monitor for symptoms
    2. If a staff member or student is listed as having “close contact” he/she must test within 3-5 days after contact, even if asymptomatic. A negative result is required before returning to school.
  7. Campus deep-cleaned
  8. Follow guidance of puskesmas for reopening (possible 5-14 days of closure, depending on requirements)

For further questions or clarifications, please contact our front office office@baisedu.org and you will be connected with the appropriate staff member.

Please join me in looking forward to what lies ahead as we trust the Lord to guide and protect our school!

Together,
Mr. Cantrall
Director
