From the Elementary Principal’s Desk

Dear Parents and Students,

This week I had the privilege of accompanying our graduating seniors on their class trip to Belitung. We had a great time enjoying the ocean, playing board games, and spending time together. I was blessed to be a part of their time processing and saying goodbye to BAIS and to Indonesia as a whole. After graduation this Friday, many of them will board a plane to the US, Australia, Abu Dhabi, England, Korea and Taiwan. The reality for many of them is this will be their last time with this group of friends and most likely their last time in this beautiful country.

Walking through goodbyes with the seniors has helped me with my own goodbyes. By now, most of you know that at the end of this school year, my family and I will be leaving BAIS. After much prayer and seeking direction, we will be heading to China, where I will be the elementary principal for an international school there, so this is my last BAIS Buzz. I wanted to take this time to say thank you to all the parents and students of this wonderful community. Thank you for everyone that graciously came to the PACE goodbye tea last week or who contributed to the wonderfully going away gift. It has been a blessing to be a part of this community for the last 16 years. When I first came to Indonesia in 2002, this was a very different country, and I was a very different person. While it hasn’t always been easy, I have grown and changed a great deal while watching the school, the city, and even this country grow and change. I know that along the way I have made many mistakes both as a teacher and an administrator. I thank you though for coming alongside me, encouraging me, counseling me, and supporting me as I have partnered with you and your families. I will miss this community dearly, but I look forward to taking the lessons that I have learned here and using them to bless another school and community. Thank you BAIS parents, teachers, and students. I look forward to hearing all the wonderful things that God has in store for you in the coming years.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Charity Ed.S
Elementary Principal

WWDWWD- Why We Do What We Do – Elementary School Supply

Every year the elementary provides ready-made supply packets for all the elementary classes. This service is designed to help parents be ready for the first day of school without having to run around to multiple locations to purchase supplies. In the past, we have had made it mandatory for all elementary parents to buy the packets. This year we are giving parents the choice to order a BAIS supply packet or to purchase the supplies on their own. Please look for a letter with more information in this week’s Friday folders. This form needs to be returned to teachers no later than Tuesday, May 28th.
